This 10x60 observational documentary series goes behind the scenes of Britain’s heritage steam railways, following the volunteers who run these preserved lines.

Britain’s heritage railways keep the magic of steam alive for millions of passengers every year – and they owe their existence to the army of passionate staff and volunteers keeping things on track, day after day. In this charming, character-driven series we meet just some of those steam afficionados; from the station managers and drivers, to the catering staff, engineers and event planners.

We gained access to four major railways around the country, and spent months getting to know their teams and stories. The resulting series highlights the sheer effort required to keep these lines going, as well as the fun behind the scenes – and explores the fascinating history and engineering stories of these wonderfully preserved railways.
